About Our Practice
We are a friendly, family-oriented neighborhood dental practice and want to form a long term partnership with you and your loved ones. We go to great lengths to make sure that working with us is a comfortable, convenient and exceptional experience for our patients. Through proper preventative care and regular checkups we believe that most of our patients can expect to keep all of their teeth for many years to come. Our goal is to assist you in maintaining a healthy mouth by giving you the knowledge, tools and care you need.
About Dr. Horutz
Dr. Kathryn Horutz received her BS in Biology from Lafayette College in 1994 and her DMD degree from University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1998. Upon finishing her dental degree, Dr. Horutz completed a one year General Practice Residency at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Ct. She also finished an Advanced Education General Dentistry residency through Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn. Dr. Horutz returned to the east coast in 2001 and spent several years as an associate dentist in a large dental practice located in Portsmouth, NH. Dr. Horutz purchased the practice from Dr. Arthur Hanson when he retired in 2007.
Dr. Horutz is an active member of the dental community. She is a member of the ADA, Greater Portland Dental Society, and Maine Spear Study Group. She serves on the boards of the Maine Dental Association and Maine chapter of Dental Lifeline. In 2014, she was inducted into the International College of Dentists.
Dr. Horutz is an active volunteer dentist and has participated with a City of Portland Children’s Dental Clinic since 2009. She has also gone abroad on dental missions to the Dominican Republic and Guatemala. She and her staff participate in the annual Dentists Who Care for ME program as well.
Dr. Horutz is a couch potato convert. She has completed seven triathlons. In 2015 she completed her first half marathon. Other pursuits include travel and gardening. New pursuits include renovating a 150 year old house, and learning how to turn on her stove.
